Rotate your collectibles and display what’s in season
I’ve never been a big fan of dust collectors. You know, those little trinkets that people get you and you set them all over your house to collect dust. I hate dusting all the little parts. I have a strict rule of no trinkets like that in my house.
My mother is different. She loves little trinkets, loves to collect a variety of things, usually fairly expensive, and she displays them in a variety of beautiful wood wall curio cabinets throughout the house. I have to admit they are beautiful and they do a great job of highlighting whichever items she has out.
Some cabinets have the same things in them all the time. Usually the crystal glasses which are even used during dinner parties. Other cabinets get their items rotated with the seasons. This seems smart to me. If it’s out of season it goes in a box, in season items go into lighted cabinets to be on display. She really does have a wonderful collection.
There are a variety of sizes and shapes for the cabinets she can choose from. It all depends on what needs to be featured.
The biggest complaint I would have is the cost. These cabinets are beautiful pieces of furniture in themselves, but some of them are $700-$1500 and higher. However, if your collection is valuable to you there’s no reason to keep it boxed up, put them on display in something that is worthy of their inherent nature.
